Tori Kelly Graces Fox Theatre With Her Vocals

Last night, I was lucky enough to be in house to hear the angelic vocals of none other than Tori Kelly.

Since we’ve last seen her, she received not one, but TWO Grammys in regards to her recent music – Best Gospel Album (Hiding Place) and Best Gospel Performance/Song (Never Alone).

Wanting to go back to her roots, Tori decided to go back on tour and doing it bigger and better than last time. Titled The Acoustic Sessions, she wanted to do a walk through set with songs from the beginning of her career to where she currently is. She started her musical career at the age of 10 when she appeared  on Star Search, a children’s singing competition. Then she appeared on another talent show, America’s Most Talented Kids, at age 12 and won the competition, receiving a record deal! Though that wasn’t able to work out as she had hoped, she moved onto posting covers on YouTube, which truly jump started her career.

The stage setup gave off a sense of comfort and closeness. With a couch, microphone, and quite a few guitars, she brought to life the acoustic vibe of her show. Accompanying her on stage was Mateus Asato, an amazing guitarist who helped all of Tori’s songs come alive.

As she explains her life story, she sang snippets of nearly all the songs that led her to where she is now.

With nothing but meaningful and heart wrenching lyrics, you could hear fans singing along to it all. You could feel the love and support bouncing from the crowd and sending it to Tori on stage.
